They take cards, but it's a hassle. Bring cash. It's just easier.

Lol... you have to be FIRM. My daughter is pretty spoiled, I won't lie. But when it comes to theme parks, carnivals, Dave & Busters, or any other place that marks up activities 500%, I have her trained. I announce the budget and I announce the guidelines before we get there, in the car, at the ticket booth and maybe 10 more times while we're there, lol. It gets on her nerves, but she knows we're not exceeding the budget. Once we meet the budget we'll hang out for a little while doing free stuff, but I never shell out extra funds. She's 9 and perfectly trained at this point. It's hilarious to hear her coach our cousins or her friends when they pile in the car, "My mommy says we can only spend a $100, so we'll use $10 for candy, $5 for this..." By the time we get to where we're going, they have their day planned and my budget isn't exceeded and everyone is happy.

What they ask for or demand is irrelevant. Do you know how to say No?

Or have a big lunch at home and also bring some snacks for the car ride there.

I see that you are going on Wednesday...you can take some comfort in the fact that Wednesday's are value days at the rodeo. Kids 12 and under are free and adults are $5 (these are fairground ticket prices though...not for the actual concert/rodeo). Also rides and games are cheaper from 11-4 on Wednesday. Also bear in mind that because of this it is ALOT more packed than usual. Typically the Wednesday of spring break is the busiest day of the entire run of the rodeo.

Yes, I can, and do, often tell my kids No, actually. The PP who responded to that post understood it to be sarcasm. Guess it went over your head.

That's why you pickup some pocket packs of Kleenex before you go...for emergencies.
