I live in Oregon and have been living in my house for a year. The lease ran out on 3/15/15. The owner lives approximately 8 hrs away (just to give some background)...we have had a good relationship all this time. The other day she texted me to say that someone was going to need to come by to assess the property for tax purposes and she wondered what time with my work schedule would work for me (she originally wanted the very next day and I said I needed to clear it with work first ( I work in a medical facility and need to give advanced notice as a courtesy). I told her Thursday would work for me and I ended up using my lunch hour. I also asked her if we would be signing a new lease as mine was up. She said she would look I to it and get back to me (the house is a part of a trust, so there are attorney's involved). Anyway the guy shows up with another guy. They are looking thru the house and the "assessor" guy says " boy, I'll bet you're going to hate moving out of here, huh?" I looked at him and said "I didn't know I was". He started back pedaling then...they continued looking around and making comments (I have a beautiful view of the ocean)...I finally came. To the conclusion that the "assessor" guy was a realtor or broker and the other guy was likely a prospective buyer! When they left I texted my landlord saying " so I take it you are selling the house" I then told her the comments the guy had said. She (after two hrs) texted back saying the guy was actually the husband of her accountant and that she had just found out that am that he might have a buyer! I told her that when I moved in she had assured me that it would be "at least" 5 years before she could even think of selling as it is tied up in the trust! ....I had previous come out of a situation where my landlord constantly talked about selling and I couldn't take it anymore....my current landlord knew this.....I take care of her elderly father so I had known her for awhile....anyways I texted her that I would have appreciated a heads up about this.....I have not heard another word from her. She is sending messages thru a mutual friend of ours, but will not contact me. Yesterday I found out that the realtor wanted to show the house today at 215. After all that, what I need to know is am I required to show this house or allow realtors to show it? I am no longer under a lease mind you! HELP!!

Sorry to hear that but that is just part of the tenant lifestyle. If your lease is up, and the landlord wants you to move, you have no recourse it is their house.

I think she meant to say that this is the "Houston" forum not the Oregon one.
