I just went outside to the pool area (covered pool) and see a snake in the pool basically on the water pipe lying there. I just freaked out and run inside. It's not big but still a snake. What should I do now???

That's just a tiny little thing. Get your pool skimmer, scoop it up, and then release it somewhere.

The only solution is to set the pool on fire and run away screaming like a girl. (I have no bigger fear than snakes. Don't do this.)

He may be able to bite an earlobe or the flap of skin between your fingers. Even then I'd give it a 99.99999% chance he/she would not even try even if you corralled it with your hand. Most likely it will be gone on it's own. They do make good pets, though.

Now if he does rear up and opens up his mouth revealing a white, cotton-colored interior, then it's best to leave it alone. But I'm quite sure you don't have one of those. Yeah, just looked again. You don't. Give him a name and feed him bugs.

What's the name of this kind of snake? Really don't want anything at my place but sure can give someone who will love it.

It resembles this 'Earth snake':

Species Profile: Rough Earth Snake (Virginia striatula) | SREL Herpetology

I thought some garter snakes were solid brown, but I can't find any on the internet.

First off, "freaking out" is when you notice the snake while you are swimming and it's making a beeline for you. Been there. Done that. Twice.

The snake wants out of the pool as much as you want him out. As already mentioned, use the skimmer to move him to a flower bed.

Since you will destroy a free self propelled bug eating machine, remind me to never mow your yard for free.
