There are people (many of them actually) who do live that far out and drive. I know a few who commute from places like Cut N Shoot and Cleveland to Downtown Houston. I cant imagine. Granted of course its not a Houston only phenomenon.

I wonder if some folks say it's "for their family," meaning that they can communicate an air of superiority to others, implying that they will be better able to bring up their family in a rural location very far from their workplace in town, but what they're really thinking is, "I can't stand too much time around my bratty kids and pushy spouse, so I will treasure my long commute in my car alone."

A lot of those people are afraid of "inner city people"
