Most of these suggestions do nothing.

You said Telstar is not working. Telstar at 1 ounce per gallon of water, sprayed once a week completely wipes out the mosquitos for me - even with all this rain. Spray in dark, cooler spots such as the base of shrubs and shaded nooks on exterior walls. Avoid spraying anywhere near flowers or you will kill bees and butterflies.

I have tried everything else except a misting system to no long term avail. I don't want a mister as we have literally hundreds of flowers in our back yard.

Actually, my mother did. It involved a 2-liter soda bottle with the part cut off and inverted and then some fluid inside that attracts them. I'll have to find out what the fluid is. Supposedly, they fly down the inverted neck, into the hole and then can't find their way back out (similar to a fish trap) then fall in the fluid and die.

I meant to ask her how it worked, but I totally forgot about it.

I'm going to do a quick internet search to see what she was doing. BRB.

Edit: A quick search found this: http://www.thesurvivalistblog.net/ho...mosquito-trap/

The yeast creates the carbon dioxide which lures them in.

The three reviews below the youtube video weren't very positive.

Final edit:

Well, this guy did a seven day test, and it sure looks like this is a complete and total bust.

Strange that works for your parents when the mosquito magnet didn't and yet it's the same concept minus heat generation and a fan to help pull Mosquitos in

When you spoke with my mom, how many mosquitoes did she say it caught?

When looking for directions on how to build a bat box, I ran across a lot of information showing that bats don't eat a lot of mosquitos. So, I never built that bat box.
