Jason,
Will one work for a 2300 sq home? or do I have to buy the whole house de-humidifier?

Its only 72 where the thermostat is. Turn it down to about 70 and let the air circulate. If it doesn't stay on long then turn it down to 69. Your house wont be 72 for much longer anyway. Houstons heat is already here. If that doesn't help then buy a dehumidifier and run it. yes 69% is way to high. Also the other problem is everything is saturated with the humidity. It might take days for the a/c to pull the moisture out of your carpet, furniture, beds whatever else you got.

Buy a thermostat with a humidistat that is programmable....It will call for cooling when either temperature or humidity need to be adjusted.

I've got 4 units and my humidity is never - above 55% and the house is right at 1 year old...I usually hover around 46-48%

Also you may want to look into your fresh air intake and how often your unit is exchanging with outside air, or if it is doing any exchanges at all. Some people dont even realize their unit does fresh air exchanges.

Make sure you have a programmable thermostat.
Ah awesome, thanks! I have a Nest thermostat and usually set the AC to run up to 84 when we're not home and turn on about an hour before we arrive down to 77. So that's not a good idea then?

Yeah, don't do that. AC runs way harder to bring it down that much than if you would just leave it at 78 all day.

It would probably help pretty good. Just put it in a central location. Since you probably only need it a few months out of the year it is a cheaper option than a whole house one.
