I'm looking to discuss Houston and thoughts on the area from anyone who may have moved from Jacksonville Florida area, especially any young folks close to my age (27). Up until 2 years ago I lived in Jacksonville most of my life (I'm elsewhere now temporarily for work) and I have to decide between possible job in Houston and back home. I have some specific questions but I'd like to see if anyone out there fits into this discussion first.

Thanks.

I'm from Houston and about to move back after 14 years away. One of those years (2006-2007) was spent in Jacksonville. I always thought that Jacksonville reminded me of Houston. I thought it (Jax) was an underrated city. Both have a very large geographic footprint and are extremely spread out. Both have parts of town that a very lush and green with tall pines. Both have coastal areas and waterways- Jax obviously more so than Houston. But, in the part of Houston where I will be living (Clear Lake/League City near NASA), it reminded me a lot of Jacksonville Beach. Just something about the vibe.

Houston is a much larger and more sophisticated city than Jacksonville. Superior in food, art and culture. Also, much more international. Economically, it has considerable advantages to Jax. But, as a Jax native, I think you will find you like Houston. Just my $.02.
