I have read several articles about the opening of two new Metro light rail lines. The green and Purple lines as they are called serve the east end (Green) and Third Ward (purple). The green line passes by BBVA Compass stadium and into the theater district while the purple line services the U of H and TSU.

With all the talk on this forum about the need for and desire to use mass transit such as light rail, I haven't seen any post by anybody who has used either line. So here is your chance to tell us what you think about the new line or lines and what your experience was like. Anybody ?

I know but I figured I would get a jump on any other posters who might start a thread on this subject

What's your point? All he asked is if any has checked them out.

No I don't really go to those parts of town. Kind of wish I lived or worked near the rail again though. It was really convenient when I worked in midtown.

I'll ride them next week. I like to ride the new lines when they open, just to see the routes, and the sights along the way.

If anyone rides them before I get to it, please post.

Not yet either. I myself live down the street from the purple line, so I might check it out soon. Only reason I would even use the line would be for an Astros game or Dynamo game, and I go to Astros games pretty often.

I rode both of them yesterday. Green line is a very short ride, since the last 2 stations aren't connected yet via that bridge over the railroad tracks. However, our conductor was going pretty fast down the line. I guess it doesn't go through many intersections. The purple line was longer, of course, with the conductor doing about the same speed throughout.

The only thing that kinda stinks about the new lines is that that it is so slow between the theatre district and the Eado stations.

I think the trains should be sped up and the vast majority of the people hit by the train should be held liable to any damage done to the train if they survive. I have seen way to many people running red lights in Houston without regard for the safety of others.

My son and grandson just checked them out today. My grandson is obsessed with trains so they go frequently.
