Hi!
I would like to get information about how is traffic and commute from Sugar Land to La Porte TX please. I went to Houston last week and really liked the Katy-Sugar Land area to buy a house, schools etc. However, my job opportunity is in La Porte. If somebody can help me, I would really appreciate it. Thanks

That's a fairly long way, you probably wouldn't have much trouble with traffic, just the distance would take time.

Have you considered Pearland? I believe the east side of Pearland is more desirable then the west side.

Yes. I was considering Pearland as well, but after reading a lot of information about both areas, it looks like Sugar Land is a best option for my family and I. Google map says that commute from Sugar Land to La Porte is about 48 minutes and that is my commute time at this moment, so that won't bother me. However, I don't know anything about how is traffic for that route.
Thank You for your help

That's a long drive. Add up tolls and fuel.

As kaelti said I'd look on the East Side of Pearland.

We lived in La Porte for 7 years and there are some ok neighborhoods in that area [La Porte] but I wouldn't live there again.

If you are sure you want to commute all that way, the traffic shouldn't be an issue, not out that way.
You should between a 45-1hr long commute each day, I'd assume an hour if there are any accidents on the Beltway.

If you'll voice what you like about Sugar Land some posters may be able to find you a nice area closer to La Porte. I'm sure even if you don't mind a 45min commute you'd probably be happy with a 30min one too

The east side neighborhoods aren't as nice as Sugar Land, IMO. Maybe Kingwood might be the only east side suburb to approach Sugar Land. Commute from Kingwood should be good.

The good news for your commute from Sugar Land is it should be traffic free most of the time, unless you are driving at absolute peak times. Bad news is you will rack up massive tolls.

Sienna or Riverstone would also cut your commute time short by 10 minutes or so from the heart of Sugar Land, but still keep you reasonably close to Sugar Land amenities.

Edit: Ignore Kingwood suggestion. Looks like the drive is pretty much the same as from Sugar Land. Friendswood is nice if you are okay with a more sleepy suburb. It's certainly not as vibrant as Sugar Land, but it is gorgeous.

Look in the Clear Lake area within the city of Houston, zip codes 77059 or 77062.

20-25 minute drive to La Porte.

Sugar Land is a MUCH nicer area and will continue to get better. It is important to like where you live. That commute is long but is totally doable, especially if you can eliminate rush hour traffic from at least one of the legs.
