Did anyone else see this recent issue of Houstonia magazine? Some pretty terrific pictures.

I have been to the Metropolitan and the Lowes theaters many times when I was a teenager and my sister used to be a member of the Shamrock's Corkettes. Only about 15-16 years after that photo was taken.

To me, that is a particularly interesting photo, because, at first glance, it seems so inconsequential. A restaurant with a bunch of businessmen sitting around having lunch? Who cares? But, that place, and that time, were so important to what Houston was (and still is).

I also like the one of them setting the Sam Houston statue in Hermann park; Barbara Jordan (a person I admired but did not agree with politically) and the one of Nancy Reagan (who was often viewed as cold and impersonal, but in the photo is conveying sincere emotion).

Thank you for sharing. Though I've been here nearly 20 years, and then a few before I went to college, it was interesting to see Houston's history in pictures.
