I HATE slow internet speed. I have comcast 100mbps (get around 60-70 on wireless) and I would jump on the google fiber thing when it comes.

Also, when I build my next house, I'll run fiber optics instead of Cat/LAN cables.

Cat 6 cabling can do 10 Gbit. Fiber will cost you at least 5x what Ethernet does. Plus the routers and such will cost at least 2x more.

Cat 5E or 6 can do 1Gig just fine. You don't need fiber in the house. Do you know how much it cost to terminate each fiber end? As for router I have a $100 that does 1Gig just fine as well. Just need to know where to look.

I'd run both cat6 and fiber and keep the fiber capped until one day needed. I'd be putting in two cat 6 and one fiber to almost every room and have them run back to an electronics closet. I'd also pre-wire for sound and have an HDMI cable included in with the cat6 and fiber.

Is called automation structured wiring bundle. This is exactly what I have in each room and I actually terminate it in the attic right above the wiring panel. I pull in just the wires I need when I need them.

Dealing with enTouch support is an absolute NIGHTMARE. My speed again is down to 900down/50up. Something really screwed up their provisioning department unless the put a cap on my speed. Overtime I call, they fix it over the phone but a day latter the upload speed gets caped again down to 50-90. I called again today and they said they need to send a tech. They sent a freaking tech a month ago for the same issues and all the tech did was to call the provisioning department and fix it.
What gets me the worse is, yes we have an all day window appointment so you have to stay home ALL DAY and wait for our stupid tech. Can't effing operate like this man.

So enTouch, when it works is good, but when is broken, is an absolute NIGHTMARE. I never had do many issues with Comcast in 10 years, never. The only reason I stay with enTouch is because of the gigabit speed for $69. That's the only incentive. I pray the service don't go down again, takes weeks to fix it. Thanks to my neighbor that I have his wireless as a backup.
