Hey guys,
I'm finally almost done with my media room/man cave area. What I would also like to do is enjoy my cigars while in here while playing cards with the boys. The room has no window but obviously it has HVAC vents to distribute/circulate the air. And I hate to have the cigar smell lingers in my couch/carpet since my kids also use this room to play their video games... so I'm trying to keep the both wife and kids happy as well.

So what are my options? Should I just go to Amazon and pick up those free standing, carbon based, air filter? Are there brands that some of you have used that worked well? Or is there more permanent solution like an in-ceiling units?

As far as frequency for smoking, it'll probably be about once every 2-3 weeks.

Thoughts?
Thanks
-J

Get one of those high end air purifiers. I used to smoke in the office and 2 of those remove all smell.

I have a winix I purchased on sale at amazon for about half off. I fart from across my master bedroom and it'll pick the smell and start going off.

Get any air purifier and then buy adjustable sized carbon air filters. I use these filters ( http://www.homedepot.com/p/20-in-x-2...BFPR/100011568 - always available locally ) and use this old purifier ( Shop Idylis 3-Speed 155-sq ft HEPA Air Purifier at Lowes.com ). Don't get conned into buying the expensive replacement filters. This is how these companies make money. They don't contain carbon anyway which is essential for taking smoke and smell out of the air. Pot growers use carbon filters for a reason. Plus I can get six filters from one $10 HVAC filter. I double them up since they're kind of thin. I smoke in my place all of the time and non smokers cant smell it a bit an hour later.

edit- When choosing an air purifier (basically a fan with a square intake), choose one that moves a lot of air, is quiet while doing so, durable and looks nice. Don't worry about filtering or anything else. All of them are basically fans. The filterless ones wont eliminate smoke or smell as well. Avoid those.

Trust me. The cut to fit carbon filters are the way to go for smoke and smoke smells.

Put in high near the poker table. Put something scented near the exhaust. I use a candle wax burner.
