This is a rental property.

I Started with hardie siding on the bottom section as you can see because those planks we're broken beyond patching up.. My question is should I remove all the asbestos siding and finish with the new siding all the way to the top? Or overlap new siding over existing siding and go all the way to the top? Or just leave as is and caulk it the paint it and blend it all in one color...

Right now it is more noticeable because it's two different colors.

I'm just so indecisive on this project. Can I have some of your expertise?-image.jpg

I thought so. And hardie over existing siding? Or remove existing and then place hardie?

I would go right over the top unless you have a good asbestos abatement plan, or awesome insurance...

I've seen some homes with different siding on them, but they usually have a horizontal transition piece between the two types of siding. The cleanest look would be to remove the old siding and install hardie all the way up, with new hardie window trim too.

Good luck on it!

Remove existing siding and wrap with Tyvek if you have the budget.

I can remove the asbestos myself and jut pay extra to dispose of it.. But it is perfectly legal for me o remove it. I've already looked into that.

So my question is. Without getting into laws and panty twisting. Would it freak out anyone if I was to sell the home later on and I disclosed that there was asbestos siding below the existing siding? Because right now is when I can change the outcome before I get started again..

You may want to do some reading before removing asbestos siding. Just sayin'.

If it absolutely looks better to hardie all the way up I'll work it into the budget. Besides I'm doing most this work alone and saving on labor.

And yes I've read up on it. It's not friable. I'll water it down prior to removal and wear my air purified mask. Gloves, ear plugs, yadda, yadda

People will freak out regardless. If you have the budget, remove it and dispose of it properly. If you don't, go over it. It causes no issues if it doesn't break/fracture/is covered.
