Hello, We're clueless! Probable move to Houston.

Based on har.com, school stats, and this great forum, have narrowed down housing choices to Kingwood, Spring/Klein (Windrose, Gleannloch Farms), and Cypress (Longwood, Coles Crossing).

Husband to work downtown (Sawyer St). Hours Mon-Fri approx 8am - 4:30 pm.

What kind of commute time are we looking at with these three areas? Knowing this would make a world of difference for our house-hunting trip.

Thanks to anyone who responds

I think Kingwood would be the easiest drive. 290 is horrible. I could imagine the commute to Longwood wouldn't be worth it.

I see drive times well over an hour sometimes from Barker Cypress to 610 on 290. And when you get to 610, your not downtown yet!

I've heard a little less than one hour. But if there's construction or a wreck, well you know......

A lot of people are going for Fall Creek, its even closer. Inside the Beltway.

290 is going to be the worst commute to Downtown. If you live in Longwood, you can go 249 - which is essentially the same commute for people over in Champions and Klein -- figure about an hour.

The commute to The Woodlands is about the same, add in another 30 minutes if you live near the back of the community.

The commute from Kingwood is going to be the easiest.

My wife goes from Klein (Champion Woods) to downtown every day on the metro park and ride from Kuyukendahl. Its an hour from our door to walking into her office. On good days its 45 minutes, on bad an hour and 15.

Kingwood would be my choice. Kingwood to downtown would be anywhere from 40 minutes to one hour depending where you choose to live. It's very spread out. ~K~

Thanks everyone for the info. I'll start looking more at Kingwood based on the commute. Any tips on houses/schools/neighborhoods in Kingwood?
