Hello,

I was needing advice on which where the best suburbs to move to for best commuting to Houston. I am single, African american, in my early 30's with no job yet in Houston. My job search is going to be mainly in Houston, looking for entry level IT jobs. So I will need to get good access to all around the city. I would like to have a suburb that is diverse, but with a small town feel. Variety of things to do as far as entertainment, but I am not much of a nightlife person. Focusing on activities during the day. Perhaps an area with good scenery too. I am mainly looking for an apartment right now between 550 to 650 a month, hopefully including utilities. Any advice would be appreciated.

It is so tough to say where to go until you have landed a job. Houston is a BIG city, so depending on where you work, you would want to find a suburb on that side of Houston so you don't spend all your time on the road. Others here may be able to give you something centrally located, I'm not sure about the "small town feel" anywhere close by. Okay... let's face it, I'm really no help. ~K~

Default I appreciate the help anyway.

Thanks, I do appreciate the help though. It is going to be tough to narrow this down though, because I don't have a job yet. Hopefully someone else might know something.

Why are you choosing to be in Houston as opposed to somewhere else, especially if you're looking for something "small-town" yet accessible to everything? That doesn't much exist here anymore.

Well, I work at HP and live in Klein. My wife and I love it. Great schools, affordable housing, and the HP campus is IN the suburbs so the commute is short.

My father lives off Louetta closer to 45....while parts of 1960 have gone downhill, the Klein area is still nice and has good access to HP (formerly Compaq)

Of course, this is great and all assuming you get a job there...

Default Thanks Jre81

Yes, depending on where I get a job will make a big difference. I have some family that stay somewhere in Northwest Houston, so I will start there. Can you think of the nicest areas over there?
