OK, my partner will need work in IT-- he's currently at a sr. level in IT, mostly software development...maybe will be looking for something on the level of an IT manager. Here and other places we've lived, you could work in the suburbs....is that true with Houston? Are there major companies with campuses in those outlying areas so we could live close to work?

Thanks so much--this is SO hard to figure out. Hosuton is huge compared to what we're used to! We're in a suburb of Phoenix and less than 5 miles from his job at a major campus (which equates to 15-20 minutes in the car but still is wonderful).

Ok, so why are you moving? Because you want to? I mean...it sounds like you're praising your current situation in PHX. Just wondering....

The PHX market is not doing so well so that might be the reason why.

I'm sure my case isn't typical, but I literally went from a emailing the head hunter to ask if a job they offered was still available to being hired in 24 hours. I'm not exaggerating.

I earn about 20% more than I did in Orange County CA. My company is ~15 miles from our house in Kingwood. No traffic, 20 minute commute, great neighborhood, awesome growing company in the oil industry. Couldn't be better.
