Ours went up exactly 10%. I will probably protest, at least the land value, as our property flooded pretty badly in last year's tax day floods.
If the flooded Harris County properties are any indication, you will have a hard time using the flood as a factor to gain any sort of material tax relief. I know plenty of Meyerland residents whose flooded and repaired homes are being valued as high as those in the area that have never flooded. Protests and arbitration have seen little benefit to anyone.

Someone correct me if i'm wrong, but you should always protest. They can deny it, but they can't adjust upward. It may not be worth your time to do the in-person protest, but the online protest doesn't take much time.

Correct that they cannot adjust upward, and agreed everyone should consider protesting.

Up 14% in Sugar Creek. Our values (actual solds) are really going up but that is crazy. But so crazy it's not going to be hard for me to protest.

In our case it will probably be a little different. I will be arguing the land itself should be worth less than comparable acreage that is not in the flood zone. If a homeowner has to pay money to bring the dirt up above the flood zone before he/she can consider making improvements upon it, I would argue that the land itself is inherently less valuable than a property 500 yards away that is not prone to flooding.

Makes perfectly rational sense to me.... But I'm not a greedy board member wanting your tax dollars either.

Hope it works for you!

Agreed - I protested last year and a lot of the logic went out the door.
