Can someone suggest a place where I can buy some really good kimchi?
I am interested in it mostly for the health benefits. I've tried searching in some Vietnamese stores and found some jars, but I'm not sure of how good they really are. Was curious to know from on here, are there any stores that specialize in selling kimchi, maybe in Chinatown??

HEB carries it. Super H Mart in Koreatown would probably be a good bet as well.

Kimchi is a korean dish so try H Mart like mentioned above. Hmart.com: Online Shopping for Asian Grocery, Korean Kimchi, Rice Cookers, Appliances & more at everyday low prices.

99 Ranch is ok, too, although the variety is not nearly as good as h mart.

I agree with the above posters. H-Mark sell a pretty darn tasty kimchi!

I think is hype. Koreans probably are the best marketers out of all the Far East nations. From Kimchi to purple rice, they hype it with all kind of "questionable" facts and then price the product ridiculous high so people presume high quality.

Quick shoutout to BBQ Garden Korean on Gessner north of I-10 which has some pretty good Kimchi (along with BBQ of course). It's great cause it's open pretty late and good value for the prices, plus I love the flavor they put on their meat. Took my significant other here who does not eat meat, and the look on their face when I cooked a whole octopus on the table grill in front of them was priceless.

My mother and grandmother make kimchi for the whole family, but if I am out, I go to H Mart. They have freshly made kimchi as well as packaged offerings.

For kimchi at restaurants, I highly recommend Korean Noodle House on Long Point--their kimchi is delicious!
