Hello Everyone,

Today, I had few minor leeks fixed around the house and one of the things I got fixed was the front porch plywood + shingles. The plywood was rotting and there was a big dampness on the area where the plywood was. The fix included plywood + shingles. That cost me $450. The picture below shows the result:

During the installation of new plywood and shingles we discovered a bigger problem as you can see below:

Somehow the water was coming in and as you can see it has rotten. At this time we have fixed the leak by putting **** sealant. But I am thinking that I should fix the underlaying wood. I am thinking to replace the beam, the plywood with the hole and also the other side of the roof area which is fixed on one end today as shown in the 1st picture. Total cost for this $850.

Do you think this cost is outrageous or not? I have been living in this house for 8 years and this is the first time I am having any roof work done.

On another note, you should remove your location tag from your photos taken by your iphone6s before you post them on a public forum like this. I can see your exact home location from your photos as I do photography and have plug-ins installed in my browser to show me locations on the go.

Just a safety thing that you should be aware of. Cheers!

Not a bad price. Which company provided the estimate? I'm looking for one.
