Yes, it is bad. Some homes in Richmond right near the Brazos River have been under mandatory evacuation.

Any site that I can go to for up-to-date info on this flooding in the entire metro area because they are expecting more storms this weekend?

Looks like the river may have crested last night, but more rain on the way. Hard to say how that will impact, but it's sort of 2 different, but related events. Areas that typically outfall to the river, or ditches that flow to the river that are now backed up, will have nowhere for that drainage to go. Hopefully the drainage capacity in those neighborhoods themselves can hold that additional rain. For areas already inundated, it's only going to complicate/worsen, obviously.

For area weather, I'd look at the Nws website. For the fort bend flood event in particular, fort bend oem (office of emergency management). But we're talking about multiple events, so it won't all be in one place.

We need at least 2 months of relative dry weather to get out from under this.

For Fort Bend County the best place for up to date information is here;

Homepage | FBC Office of Emergency Management

Areas north around Brenham and Bryan were pounded some more this morning. So even though the rain may be tapering off, it may get worse for those near the Brazos for a little while.

Regarding Memorial Park, I would think the designers would have expected this to some degree being that it is right on the river. Designed park flooding is tolerable to me. At least they knew not to build homes there.
