For Tex-Mex two places that are good starting points would be Molina's which has a few locations. http://www.molinascantina.com
And Spanish Village- Spanish Village Restaurant - Houston, TX

If you like noodles then try Jenni's Noodle House. Jenni's Noodle House: It's All Good in the Noodlehood ®

There is a location for the national chain Noodles by the Galleria. http://www.noodles.com/locations?q=7...ff&alcohol=off

Keep in mind Houston has huge populations of most Asian cultures and the real deal non-Americanize version is available somewhere in Houston. Plenty of great Thai and Pho places.

While not noodles, I'd recommend Pondicheri for an introduction to Houston's Indian food scene. http://www.pondichericafe.com

Check out Mala Sichuan in Chinatown for Chinese. They don't have a website. http://www.yelp.com/biz/mala-sichuan-bistro-houston
Fung's and FU FU Cafe and also very popular.

Pappadeaux is seafood heaven. I go to one near Sugar Land, but they are all over the city.

Thai Cottage in Sugar Land is good. There's also a branch of the Texas de Brazil chain at the First Colony Mall, they do lunch on Saturdays for half off the regular dinner price.

Gatlin's BBQ. Asia Market (Thai Food) on Calvalcade, not the one on Fulton.

People will disagree with me but I like Little Pappasito's for Tex-Mex.

Agree. I love spicy but their "mild" is so spicy that my eyes water, nose runs and I get head sweats. It's the most wonderful feeling in the world.
