I agree with suggestion about Denver. Amazingly beautiful place.
Denver around 5000 Ft, Estes Park at 7500 and you can take car rides to various locations that are at 14000Ft.

I had slight headache at 14000Ft but other than that, it was no issue.

Thanks,

You should ask the doctor, the minimum elevation and go to the closest place with that elevation.

How often will he need 3-4 days in an elevated area??? You may need to think about moving to a better place for his health.

Are you sure that high elevation will help with asthma? I did a quick Google search and many articles say high elevation is bad for asthma. Here is a quote from the Los Angeles Children's Hospital website:

"If your child has asthma, they may experience struggling for air in high elevation territory because the amount of oxygen in the air decreases as altitude increases."

There is a website that says there are less allergens at higher elevations and that "a number of studies have shown that people with severe asthma can benefit from high-altitude treatment or living at a high altitude for an extended amount of time"

So you would need to move to a higher elevation to get benefits, not just visit there occasionally.

My guess is you've misunderstood his directive to have your child stay in an elevated position not GO to an elevated place (meaning don't lay down flat).

When my son was little and he still had asthma we would put several pillows in his bed so he slept at about a 25-35 degree angle (or you could use a reclining chair). If the child is very little and this is not safe to do, they can sleep in a car seat. The angle really helps cut down the coughing/wheezing and they sleep much better. When they sleep better they get through them faster because their little bodies aren't worn down from lack of sleep.
