Dollar for dollar, you can't beat a 12 hour pulled pork shoulder on a KJ or BGE.

I paid about $12 for a pork shoulder the other day. Threw it on my BGE at 3am, and essentially didn't touch it or BGE until lunch on Saturday. Some BBQ sauce, pickles, onions and torts rolls form Costco finished it off. Sandwiches for a dozen people for under $20, and they all loved them.

What about the big green egg -- people seem to love those. Any users of those compare to the grill mentioned here at Costco?

You are either on the BGE camp or the Weber Smokey Mountain camp. Won't argue BGE is great for grilling but give me a purpose built smoker like the WSM any day of the week for true BBQ.

I have the chargriller Akorn kamado. Got it from lowes for about $260. It is not ceramic, but triple walled insulated steel with a porcelain interior coating. Holds temps well around 250 degrees for hours, without using a ton of fuel. Cooked a great brisket and pork shoulder. Also great ribs. If you're looking for a budget kamado, this one is pretty good. Although, had I seen the pit boss ceramic one, I may have gotten that.

Big Green Eggs and Kamado Joe's are great. Just pricey. You'll spend well north of $1K if you get the larger sizes and any accessories.

Any Kamado style will do the job to be honest. But I wouldn't spend 1K on the BGE when you have other reasonable kamado options
