The wife and I are moving into a new two bedroom apartment and want to buy some new pieces of furniture. We are looking for a new living room set and a new bedroom set.
We want something a bit better than Ikea furniture and hit the outlet store of Rooms to Go near the Premium Outlet Mall last week. Is RTG a good place to buy furniture from? I liked that you could buy a whole room at once from RTG instead of picking out individual pieces of furniture like from IKEA.
Any other stores that we should also check out? Any experiences that can be shared would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance!

-RJ

Check out Gallery Furniture if only for the experience.

Check out The Dump (I-45 North/West Rd). They have some fine brands at quite a discount.

I'd say they are similar in quality (which is not too high) but for my taste, IKEA products have better style.
IKEA also might be cheaper as you do most of the assembly yourself.

If you don't mind spending your time on the assembly, I'd vote for IKEA vs RTG.

I bought a number of inexpensive pieces of furniture from Rooms To Go including a bunk bed, day bed and a bedroom set for our guest room. All have withstood 2 kids jumping on them, crashing into them with their bicycles and me - who weighs over 210 lbs. I'd stay away from Ikea, I've bought furniture from them in the past and they were flimsy.

Rooms to Go is notable for the ease of the transaction but they are not generally considered to have great quality. I'd say the difference between the quality of these two places is probably a wash. I love Ikea style so I'm probably biased because of that. I just got done putting together a Hemnes dresser and it took me about 4 hours--you will work for it if you go that route but it's what I'd recommend. And yes, you will save money.

I like IKEA's dressers (Hemnes) and shelves (Kallax). I prefer Rooms to Go for living room and dining room furniture. Couches specifically. Rooms to Go ones I've had have held up a lot better.

Default Ikea

I don't care for either really, the quality is about the same, but RTG charges much more for the same "disposable" furniture.

If you can afford the money, I'd go to place with higher quality, like Gallery Furniture; however, you said you wanted something a "bit" better than IKEA, so I would just go with IKEA. The assembly part sucks though.

That's interesting. I've never been to Gallery Furniture. How much more expensive is Gallery compared to RTG? When I went to RTG last weekend, I was able to find decent living room sets in the $1500 to 2k range (this would be couches + side tables + etc...)
