Hello

I live in Katy zoned to Seven Lakes High School but have been wanting to move my kid to Tompkins High.
While looking at the houses and the area, we came across DR Horton Homes - Marshall Oaks Community.

Anybody have any reviews about this Community? My younger daughter goes to Kilpatrick Elementary School. Is this community going to stay in Kilpatrick Elementary school zone or will it change anytime soon?

Any suggestions will be helpful.

This is a gated community with about 170 lots (mostly 65'). They are in a nice location; most new builds are to the west of FM 1463 or way up north of I-10. Mainly because when they started out about 4 years ago, they had luxury specs and higher end features and priced in $500k -$600k range and couldn't sell them all. This year they launched newer plans starting mid-300s after stripping out some of the high-end features (Monogram Appliances, 6 burner cooktops, etc.). Sales appear to have picked up after that.

As far as Kilpatrick zoning, it may be stable as there aren't any new elementary schools within the area as the surrounding area is already built out. But you never know, Rylander is pretty close to the community too but again I think that is also rated good.

Hey ann_bul,

if you don't mind me asking, why are you planning to move from Seven Lakes to Tompkins ?
I live in Silver Ranch zoned into Tompkins so was just curious

I don't know much about Marshall Oaks but Silver ranch has new homes in 50ft, 65ft and 75Ft. (Gated) so you could look there too.

Thanks,

I am curious to know the same because some of the people I know want to do the reverse move? Just want to know your perspective as well

While all builders have issues, DR Horton doesn't have a great reputation that I am aware of. Might want to steer away from a high end house with them.
