Well most locals know about it anyway. Most tourists would think NASA, Galveston Island & the Astrodome are the best tourist attractions in Houston.

Other good attractions are the San Jacinto Monument, the Battleship Texas & Moody Gardens

Houston as a city is ok, it gets boring after awhile (well, most cities do)
I've lived here all my life, and it's pretty nice.
I'm moving to Atlanta soon so yeah.

If you like something outdoors and different, then you should try Brazos Bend State part which is just a few minutes from Sugar Land. The unusual items of interest are a on-site observatory and lots of alligators. You have to book the observatory in advance.

Yeah, I saw that in some picture...some alligator laying there with an egret in the background. I started a thread inquiring about these ba$tards in the metro area...and they can be at Lake Conroe or Lake Houston...go figure.

Anything that can eat you freaks me out. Alligators throughout the freshwater pockets of the Southeast and mountain lions in the Intermountain West.

Pick your poison!

Unfortunately (or fortunately, depending on your view), the Kemah/Seabrook/Clear Lake secret is out. Pretty soon you'll have a line of highrises commanding high per-unit $$$ surrounding Clear Lake and lots of traffic.

There are a lot of good hole in the wall type restaurants, too, Everything from Cajun steaks to Italian seafood.

When i go to Houston, one of the first things i want to do is go to the Galleria. Then NASA, texas state battleship, the San Jacinto monument, Downtown, and chinatown are fasinating

Well I'm already familiar with the Kemah area, the Space Center etc...

I was really looking for things that are more local, the type of thing I can't find on the internet.

So, here's a more specific list of questions:

What are your favorite restaurants in the inner loop that are locally owned?
What is your favorite bar in the inner loop? Is it popular, busy, or low-key?
What is your favorite live music venue? A place that has good shows each weekend or all throughout the week...(make sure you say what kind of music you're into =))

No favorite restaurant. There are many...

Bars: Poison Girl and Rudyard's in Montrose. Popular and busy.
Pearl Bar on Washington, La Carafe downtown. Low-key during the week, but busier towards the weekend.

No favorite live music venue. I don't go to shows much anymore, and several have opened while some have closed, so I can't really say... Numbers is probably one of the oldest clubs still operating in Houston...
