That is a good price but their lowest currently is 10.7, which was my point. Griddy has been cheaper than any retail provider I’ve checked since June and by a pretty decent amount. You are in an existing contract but if you were to go shop right now you wouldn’t be able to find 8.1 anywhere.

I can get 7.5 for a 3 months contract from several providers.

A 3 month contract on 2/27/19 covers the 'shoulder' months of March, April, May. Your renewal on June 1 will cover the summer peak of June, July, Aug. No way that is $0.075/kWh.

Need to compare apples to apples here....exactly what Power-to-Choose doesn't allow you to do.

That is why I'm hesitate in a 3 month contract. But, I've found a good one yr plan and just signed up for it.

Thanks for recommending Griddy here. I switched late December and have a few months under the belt for comparison. Just in case anyone is wondering:

Griddy plan - 703 kWh
Energy Charge $27.24
TDU Delivery charge $32.30
Griddy membership $9.99
Taxes/Fees $0.11

My savings are around $42 compared to last year. Granted, I used about 50 kWh less this March, but that's only around $6 difference based on the old plan.

Yes current plans are pretty high. I've been paying 8.7/kw with no monthly fee for the last 2 year with Discount Power. I use less then 500kw half the year and cant find anything under 10c for that usage.

13 500
10.8 1000
10.9 2000 best I saw earlier in the week.

I've always been a fan of TrueCost, operated by Centerpoint, because it factors in your actual previous usage and all fees, similar to Energy Ogre but without the monthly fee. Unfortunately, Centerpoint has discontinued TrueCost.

Sorry for the late reply but i just signed up for Speedy 24 with Express energy. It is a flat rate plan with no tier, which means the less you use the more you save. Its price per kwh is also very reasonable.

9.7 500
9.2 1000
9.0 2000

Its not that the price/kwh is going down as you use more. It just means that there are fixed costs included and its being spread out more as the kwh goes up. If you have a base charge of 9.99, at 500 its .0199/kwh, at 1000 its .0099/kwh, and at 2000 its .0049/kwh.

I know there is a small fix cost of $5/month but that's not what I meant. I said the less you use, the more you save, which means this plan has an incentive for you to save money by using as little power as possible. There is no tier price which forces you to go over a certain usage every month.
