Oh, stop that already. It's not typical of only Houstonians to complain about something. People do it all over the world, people complain.:-) That's normal.
Btw, I don't complain, doesn't mean that because I didn't enjoy it that much, it was terrible. It wasn't, just kind of flat for ME. My opinion, not complain.
The same goes with our weather, I hate our long summers, but I love Houston.
I'm not judging anyone or anything, I learned better. Just stating opinions and facts. Because I love somebody or some place, I want to see them doing the best of their potentiality . And simply put, I don't think they executed this documentary, about our lovely city, to their fullest. That's it.

And yes, I do believe, they should show our "trashy" looking BBQ places too. There's a lot of places with great kitchen. Why not? What's wrong with TX history? Every single person came with some history and moves forward, that's how it goes in life and how we, as people, evolve. You can't skip it.

The introduction to the show was awesome, I can't quote it exactly but he started with descriptions like "Close minded, quick to judge" juxtaposed with images of gun shops and big trucks before pointing out that he was referring to much of the country and its opinion of Texas, Houston in particular.

In my opinion this was an important opening and makes up for anything that may have been missed in the body of the show.

What most viewers probably got out of it is that Houston has been welcoming to immigrants from difficult situations. Also the unspoken subtext shows the entrepreneurial spirit the immigrants bring and how to them America is still a land of opportunity where anything is possible (a good comparison to much of the rhetoric that is thrown around).

As far as what I think would have been good to highlight maybe some big outdoor event, but I can't think of any going on the weekend that he filmed. Also they had many shots of the downtown skyline, I think it would have been good to throw in some of the Galleria, Medical Center and maybe even the Woodlands.

I'm good with people from other states keeping their stereotypes -- its gettting too crowded here anyway. It lets everyone who is already here enjoy what all we have in all corners of the city and in terms of diversity. I thought it was a good show.

If anyone read his synopsis about the episode he was making months ago, he states he's already done 2 episodes on other shows where he showcased all the traditional culinary offerings Houston is known for, but that he wanted to go out of his way and do an entire episode showcasing stuff that people outside of town would have no clue on. If you feel that those "essential" parts of Houston's food scene were missing, it's because it was intentionally done.

For me, it would have been complete if he layered in the perspective of the Anglo Houstonians who in large part, have embraced the international growth of the city. The show continued to reference the disconnect between the immigrants perception of Houston and the reality as they all indicated they felt welcome...to their surprise.

I know I don't want to watch a Parts Unknown episode about the Houston suburbs and clearly the episode was never intended to show off the burbs

Beleive me I'm not just speaking for myself, not everyone clearly but the suburbs really isn't the angle for the show.
