I have a family member that has been suffering from mental health issues, mainly major anxiety and depression. She was diagnosed with anxiety many years ago after going through a breakdown, but made it through with medication. Years passed and there were no problems. After having a baby in 2013, something happened and she slowly became more and more depressed and anxiety returned and medication doesn't necessarily help. She has all the signs of clinical depression, even a therapist she spoke with for a few months said she had clinical depression. The problem is that nothing changes and it is greatly affecting everyone around her. Our family is pushing her to get some help with a psychiatrist, so we are in search of a good one. The psychiatrist she that originally prescribed her the medication years ago is known more as a pill pusher than someone who talks to the patient to find the right course for treatment. Therefore, I am trying to find a good psychiatrist to help her in this situation. If you have any recommendations, please let me know.

Thank you.

Unless OP's name is really Tex N Cal, I'm optimistic that no one will find out who this person is.

What part of Houston?

In NW area, I would recommend Your Family Psychiatrist. They have long appointments to thoroughly educate you on your problem.

In SE area, I would recommend Samaritan. Dr Rigolout is nice, but the clinic may have a long wait list.

Insurance or no insurance? Most 'good' psychiatrist don't accept insurance and charge at least $200/visit.

Yeah, I know it is expensive. I wish there were more good psychiatrists that accept insurance. Thank you for the suggestions.

Dr. Mitchell Young, (713) 522-4505. He's in the Museum District.
Dr. Kimberly Cress, (281) 240-7000. She's in Sugar Land.
