Curious about decent (not expensive) areas to live in or near Katy?? A very good possibility my girl will transfer with her company when they open a store in Katy in April'ish. Not sure as of yet how much her pay will change, and I will be needing a job. Any assistance about Katy or surrounding areas is appreciated!!

Thanks!!!

This should be moved to the Houston forum. Hopefully, one of the Moderators will do that soon.

In the meantime, if you do a Search on the Houston forum, you will come across tons of threads about Katy and should be able to get the info you need.

The divorce occurred recently after 32 years of marriage, or the divorce occurred 32 years ago? Or you are 32 years old?

You can look at an apartment website to see what apartments are going for. You can search for houses on the Houston Association of Realtors website (HAR) for houses. If you have bad credit, you can have it under your gf name and put you as just an occupant. They will still run a credit, criminal and eviction history on you because you are over 18 (most landlords will). The other option is to ask if you can pay more deposit because of credit troubles, if your income is needed to make the rent payment. You can also try to get cheaper housing through "The Greensheet." A lot of landlords that aren't as picky publish their houses for rent there. However, be careful that the person you are meeting is actually the owner and not a scam artist. They break into the house, change the locks and show the house like it's theirs. When your filling out the application, be forthcoming with your divorce history to explain why your credit is not good. It is better to be open and honest. Landlords will be more forgiving if you are upfront and honest.

Generally the cheaper parts of Katy will be north of i-10. Or at least that used to be the case. There's so much construction that there are probably nice new subdivisions.
