Hey,

We are planning to adopt an older Dog who has been abandoned by her owners. We have been Dog 'owners' before, but not in the Houston area.

She is a medium sized Dog, not an aggressive/commonly restricted breed.

We live in Harris County, but not in a HOA, so we have fewer house/community restrictions. However, we want to know the best practices of caring, living, commuting with the Dog.

Some questions for you, if you do not mind:

a) Any recommendations for competitive vaccinations and veterinary services, we do not mind commuting. For example, we saw that the Houston Humane Society has a clinic, are there other such options, preferably closer to North/Northwest Houston?

Any of them open on a Sunday? We can commute

b) What are the rules for relieving the Dog when in transit. Let's say we are driving from A to B, and need to relieve the Dog, can she go to the restroom in the open areas of a gas station? Strip mall? Or do we need to find a Doggie park?

c) What are the rules for leaving the Dog in the car? YES we understand, leave the window slightly open, do not leave it in extreme temperatures etc. But is it ok to leave her in the car, with the window slightly open, while on a grocery run?

That is all I can think of for now

Any other tips are welcome.

much appreciated,

Cinnamon
