Based on http://www.uh.edu/af/docs/HI/HousingSite.pdf and UH Mobile - History in the making - UH would have an interest in improving the following schools:

* Peck (for MacGregor Park site): http://www.houstonisd.org/cms/lib2/T...ps/Peck_ES.pdf
* Blackshear (for Cullen/I-45 site): http://www.houstonisd.org/cms/lib2/T...ckshear_ES.pdf
* Cullen Middle School: http://www.houstonisd.org/cms/lib2/T.../Cullen_MS.pdf
* Yates High School: http://www.houstonisd.org/cms/lib2/T...s/Yates_HS.pdf

BTW does anyone know if UH has reached a decision on the family housing proposals? UH said they planned to build the family housing off of MLK across from MacGregor Park back in 2011 but there's no news of anything being built.

If UH has decided not to build on those sites, I'd search for an existing apartment complex zoned to Poe Elementary and Lanier Middle School (near Renu Khator's residence!!) near the METRO bus lines and acquire that. While Ewing Apartments, a public housing complex, is zoned to Poe ES and Cullen MS (1815 Ewing St, Houston, TX 77004), I'm not sure it would go over well for the Houston Housing Authority to give up a complex zoned to a good elementary school. I'd rather have UH buy a private apartment complex and convert it.

On my way to Galveston, I spotted some new houses along I-45 and Scott built on what were once empty lots or run down shotgun housing. Looks the seeds of revitalizing the University Park area are spouting!
Greater Eastwood is across I-45 from the UH main campus and is full of restored 1920's-'30's bungalows and foursquares, plus a few apartments. Quite a few professors and students live there.

Yes, that apartment's nice. I think Kerrton meant the stuff west of Scott and north of Truxillo
