I remember that there was a revolving lamp on the top of the tower. What happened to it?

It's still there.

I believe the property owner was rehabbing it.

Glad that the light still is used. This is a Houston icon for sure. One of those things that I remember about my beloved city.

Lo and behold, I saw it last night. It just seem to me that it was brighter and bigger before. Not sure.

Default It was brighter when first turned on...

I recall back in the early 80s when it was constructed, and shortly thereafter, lit. It was great, and I don't know how many more times brighter than it is today, but I recall coming in at night on I10, and it could be seen from Sealy.

The people in the high condominiums, and airlines protested the lights, and so the owner at that time, Transco, had to decrease the power significantly to what it is now... just a huge flashlight now compared to what it was originally. If you think it is impressive now, you should have seen it then.

That's just it. I don't think that it's impressive now. I remember seeing a brighter light before.

It should be allowed to be at full strength on special occasions, maybe 4th of July and New Years.
