But I don't really recall anyone living there.
Schools are important, yes. But living in a middle of nowhere around swamps without much infrastructure - is this really a great place to spend life?
Clear Lake sounds much better to me. It has much more to offer than just schools and swamps.
My cousin in Mont Belvieu would slap you for that statement. No swamps to speak of, just nice folks, semi-country living in nice subdivisions that are less expensive than other areas around Houston, good schools, and there's plenty to do.

Well I used to live in s semi-country settings and I loved it. However it was not far from NYC and DC so it was best of both worlds. But here is just a boring isolated town without much to do. For the people coming from the entertainment capitol even Clear Lake might be too boring and Mont Belvieu is just a way extreme.

For older unique houses, I would also say Clear Lake.

Yes GT if you think Mont Belvieu is a "boring swamp" well, don't move here. Plenty of other folks looking for a better life are ready to take your place. (BTW its named "Mont" because its probably the highest elevation on the coast, zero swamps).

Baytown itself has been adding entertainment (movie theater) and dining options over the last few years - these are highly accessible to Mont Belvieu. Mont Belvieu itself is getting a large retail center anchored by HEB. It is also trying to plan for a new downtown, though this is in the very early stages.

Seabrook or Clear Lake. Not that Mont Belvieu is not nice, but it does not offer near the options for shopping/dining/entertainment that the Clear Lake area does. If they like being in the country then yes, but convenience to things, no.

Baytown / Mont Belvieu in no way compares to the Clear Lake Area for amenities if that's what you're looking for.
However you may be able to get slightly more home (or a newer build) for $250k in Mont Belvieu, and the lot will probably be double-triple the size. I know someone who moved there from Clear Lake for that reason-- population 4,000 and big lots. It all depends on what you're into.

This is a good summation. Mont Belvieu will never be able to offer the retail, services and entertainment available in Clear Lake.

I would recommend looking within Deer Park or Clear Lake. Depending on the area of Pearland that may be a good option as well. Certain areas have a bit more traffic.
