Closest to Houston to see trees changing colors in the fall

Lost Maples State Park near Vanderpool but it is super crowed in the fall

Tuner Falls State Park in the Arbuckle Mountains in Southern Oklahoma it is about a 5 1/2 to 6 hr drive on the way is the Windstar Casino

Another good choice is Northern Arkansas or Southern Missouri 9 or 10 hr drive.

Lost Maples is beautiful, and unusual for Texas. We got a cabin (really a little house, not one of the original group of cabins) nearby. Texas Hill Country Lodging - Foxfire Cabins

Neal's Lodges in Concan is not too far away, and another good place to get a cabin.

The little town of Utopia is nice, and has a couple of good places to eat.
