Just wanted to get some opinions on both areas. We are looking to buy in the Greatwood neighborhood in Sugar Land or Kingwood. Does anyone have opinions on the areas or have advice on any other neighborhoods that would make the commute easier? Thanks!

There is a great feature on Google maps where after you use it to get directions, you can adjust the time you "leave at" to see how long the commute would take....try it for houses that you are interested in. It will give you an unbiased insight into relative commute times.

One thing to watch is how long it takes to get out of the subdivision. In some larger subdivisions, given everybody leaving for work at the same time, you can spend a considerable amount of time just getting to the highway. You need to factor this in if you are looking "deep" into any subdivision.

We know about the feature on google maps. I'm not sure how accurate it will be due to the storm and flooding.

I'm not sure what impact storms and flooding would have on your commute in the long term. You should however consider what impact it will have on your flood insurance costs, and whether there are enough available properties in mom-affected areas of those places.

You cannot generalize this question. It very much depends on where in Sugar Land and where in Kingwood. You can add up to 20 minutes just to get to 59 in each of these suburbs in the morning if you live well off the freeway.

I can't say much about Kingwood, but I used to live in Greatwood, and commuted to downtown. Its not a very big subdivision, it doesnt take much time to get out of it.

People either take shared commuter vans from the University or AMC, drive to the West Belfort park and ride, or drive downtown......I used to take the shared rude vans, they made it from University to downtown in about 45 mins on average
