NorChester is still a far drive though

Your best bang for your buck would be to look at Highway 90 from around Hiram Clarke to Fondren

Your close to the city still but there are affordable areas.

You got me wrong! I bought a 2nd house half a year ago. I am not looking to buy, I am happy with my area and my house.

But in this thread I would like to discuss some other suburbs, dig little bit into history, discuss possible future of those areas, etc.

There are many interesting areas around Houston that are completely out of scope now.
Purpose of this thread is to discuss those areas that probably had an interesting past.
How future of those areas will look like?

I wished we had a Sharpstown thread so that people could post news on it. I loved that area and would love to see it come back to life again.
You should come take a look at the neighborhood again. Lots of renovations and the neighborhood has dramatically cleaned up the past three years. Some new mcmansions going in as well.

It's pretty old area between Hwy290 and Hwy249, built in early 1970s, but still alive. I had a feeling of community there.
Houses are in a decent shape. Seems like they keep their value.
Oh how many hidden gems like this are around Houston?

Who knows anything about this area?
Friends of my son live there and they have just flooded for the second time. I don't know how widespread the flooding was but it does back up to Cypress Creek so it would be buyer beware!

Looks like most of the foooding was contained north of cypresswood, so being south of there would be a priority if looking at this neighborhood. This is a great find given the prices. It's in between some really nice areas and some so-so areas, but there's some really good retail options with willowbrook and vintage being so close. It looks like the homes and lots have good bones, but I wouldn't ever live there without a full renovation personally. The schools are okay as well, not the highest rated in CFISD but still decent. All in all, it would be a nice enough place to live it seems.

I'll add another one I discovered recently. Bammel Forest. I have no idea if it flooded or how schools are but I was heading down Kuykendahl one day and saw it, so I drove into the neighborhood. Its very spread out and well maintained.

EDIT: after looking at the maps closer it very well may have flooded. Everything west of there did.

So it looks like the Northern part of Bammel Forest did flood since it is right on Cypress Creek.

I used the link below and zoomed in on the neighborhood and I can see piles of debris outside homes.

Oh I can't imagine how devastated were communities near Jesse Jones Park in Humble area. They have Spring Creek nearby and this park gets flooded like crazy even after 'regular' heavy rains. I remember there were pretty nice subdivisions in that area. Don't know if they survived
