Hi, everyone. How's the Bayou City treating you folks this week? I'm amazed no one has yet cooked up a thread about this year's Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, so I'd like to open this up right now for you. Any of you folks gotten to go yet this year? If you have, can you share a few highlights for us? I did not get to this year, unfortunately, so I'll try to go next year. But let's see about you now.

Rodeo Houston 2008. How was it for you? Let's hear from you now! Let 'er rip! And as we get started, here is a word of greetings from a few friends!

Come on now, Houston bloggers. Some of you had to have gone to at least a small part of the rodeo so far this year, have you? If you've gone, what did you do and what did you see? If you haven't, then what are you planning to do there if you do go?

We've been once this year - went about a week or two ago and saw Kevin Fowler. It was a pretty good show and we had a nice time, but didn't see anything special. By the time we caught the shuttle bus, got out to the stadium, walked God knows how far to get IN the stadium, paid ungodly prices for nachos and Cokes, got to our seats, and watched the rodeo and most of the concert, it was already 11:00 PM. *yawn*

I used to go all the time as a kid. Now it just isn't exciting as it was then. We usually go once each year and that's about it.

I went a couple of years ago, and I think having Reliant Stadium for the rodeo and the Astrodome for some of the showings make this yearly event much better. You folks have the perfect setting for the world's largest rodeo.

I also remember, in 2004 (I think), I saw Ray Charles in concert, and it was one of his last concerts ever. Wonderful show. He passed away just a few months after that, but still, it was memorable.

There's a price to pay, but this event just keeps getting bigger each year.

I'm going on Wednesday. And no, I don't want to go see Fergie . That was just a good day to go this week.
