Is there a Dominican Republic community in Houston. I have someone coming here soon from The DR and would sure like him to meet other people from his country. He's coming to Houston from Higuey.

Don't know about everybody else, but I don't travel to other countries to meet people from my own country.

BTW, All Spanish people from the Caribbean get along very well.

Dominicans tend to live on the north side for some reason I haven't understood yet. I myself have a good bit of Dominican friends, but this surge is mostly recent. Not sure why they've been coming here. My barber is Dominican he cuts great hair. There's a good bit of Dominican restaurants to choose from and Dominican cake places

I'm half Dominican and have lived here for almost 5 years. From what I understand, most Dominicans in the Houston area are on the Northwest side of town. There is an amazing Dominican restaurant on 249 called Punta Cana.......check it out sometime.

Have you been to Restaurante Merengue? Heard it was pretty good. There's a good handful of them but little enough to be able to name them all.
