Anyone over 65 in Galveston county (friendswood) that knows the actual tax exemption % rates or dollar deduction you get for an over 65 exemption?

Before you tell me to do this — I’ve called the appraisal district who referred me to the tax office. They said they couldn’t give me an exact amount but it’s about 20%. Is that correct or is it it different dollar amounts or percentages off for the various entities?

Looking at several areas for consideration and Harris county and Montgomery county both very helpful with info and provided it easily. Galveston county, not so much. Very vague. Travis county — even worse almost as if it is handed out on a case by case basis and said they can’t tell me anything by phone.

If you are over 65 in Galveston county — can you share what the standard over 65 exemption is? Would greatly appreciate. Harris county exemptions for over 65 are pretty great.
For over

Go to this site Tax Information - Galveston Central Appraisal District and open the Tax Rates link. It's a zip file with some pdf's in it. I think I've attached the zip, you want the 2017TR.pdf file for this year

Harris County over 65 exemptions are much better than Galveston County. Harris County over 65 are also easy to find online. Galveston’s are harder to find and the tax office isn’t particularly helpful by phone either. Galveston county exemptions are much less than harris.

I think Harris county has great over 65 exemptions. Galveston county is less but not sure how much less. It appears Harris gives homeowners a $160k exemption and Galveston only $60k. Significant difference. Same with Montgomery county being less than both Harris or Galveston.
