We lived in the Houston area twice.

Beware of fault lines. Look them up in a search. Our first house (1978-1983) was next to a fault and we simply lucked out and we were on THE RIGHT SIDE of the fault (Hedwig Village). We were moving from NJ and didn't have a clue, never heard of fault lines.

The second time husband was transferred back the company had the people for a dinner meeting and among other things they passed out fault line maps. Houston is full of faults. They neglected to tell people about flooding. Houston was a swamp before 2 New Yorkers started the city. I'm from NYS

Secondly of course, there are VERY serious flood issues. Our second house was in The Woodlands (1992-2004). The house next to us had some water in it in 1994. Other homes in our subdivision had A LOT OF WATER IN THEM. The next 500 year flood was in 2001, we were blessed.

Luckily we had moved before the last hurricane when areas that had NEVER flooded, flooded!

The realtors won't tell you anything. DO ALL YOUR OWN HOMEWORK. A lawyer might help.

Texas Homes for Sale - Search Texas Real Estate for Sale - HAR.com best MLS I've seen. Florida is the pits. The realtors here in FL, 98% of the time: add the garage, porches, patios to the sq. ft. of the houses

Get a really good termite inspection.

Basically you’re telling people to use their common sense and do their due diligence. These suggestions really apply anywhere someone moves, not just Houston.
