can anyone suggest an apartment complex near JSC? Obviously, safe and clean (updated) is what I'm looking for. I'll be working at JSC so minimum commute time is a must. I hate getting stuck in traffic. I realized the area is 30 miles south of downtown Houston so nightlife will only be on the weekends.

You'll be able to find some good nightlife in Clear Lake -- and once you get to know some people you'll find plenty of things to do. How much are you looking to spend? I can't remember the name of the apartments but there are some great looking ones near Nasa Parkway on Space Center Boulevard. Probably some of the pricier ones though. Then there are several at Space Center Boulevard & Bay Area Boulevard area. Also you can rent an apt. style condo -- there are two complexes like that at Bay Area Blvd. & Gemini - those are usually rented from an individual owner.

Yeah, those lonely apartments just north of NASA Rd 1 on Space Center look real nice, and they're biking distance from JSC and the lake. There is a bike trail & lane you can use to get to work if you live there, so that may be a plus. The ones on Bay Area & Space Center are older but decent, and you can scrap the bike-to-work idea.

Avoid the apartments on El Dorado and NASA Rd 1 between I-45 and Hwy 3.

BTW, don't let the ''open minded'' suburb-haters fool you: The Houston-Webster part of Clear Lake is one of the very few outer areas that actually has a good selection as far as nightlife and unique eateries. Kemah-Seabrook has plenty as well, but has a lot of expensive Houston-chain (Landry-type) restaurants (and a permenant boardwalk carnival @ Kemah). Overall, nightlife caters to singles in the 30 & 40 something crowd, but a sizable 20-something U of H C.L. crowd exists. And of course lots and lots of families. So you'll likely find whatever you're looking for.
