I stopped in yesterday to pick up a new SSD for my PC, and noticed that much of the floor space usually occupied by various displays is totally empty. Shelving seems to have been removed in areas, the TV display area had large voids, the usually jam-packed appliance display area had many empty spots, etc. They do seem to now be selling mattresses and exercise bikes. Anyone know if this portends a closure in the near future, or if its just a seasonal thing?

Most likely just adapting to current market. They've done this a few times before. At one time that whole front section of the store in front of the café was DVD's and CD's, now there is maybe 1/4 of what there once was. Near the back of the store that had multiple aisles of cameras - now there is one. Eventually new items were moved into the empty space left when the amount of those products were reduced. Same is probably going on with the TV area. When that store first opened you could still buy tube TV's and huge projection TV's along with the LCD's.

Yeah, many people don't buy DVDs and CDs anymore-- they stream and use Netflix. When I was in college I worked at a photo lab that didn't jump on the digital bandwagon fast enough in the early 2000s, and they quickly went bankrupt. I also think they are just adjusting their inventory. The home furnishings in the middle of the store are now on their website. Probably more to come.
