The Eastside is growing very quickly. Is it possible Beaumont and Houston will meet in our lifetimes?

Not a chance. This place would be underwater for good first.

No way.

Besides, Beaumont is stagnant, if not declining in population. People are more inclined to move away from Beaumont that fill in near it. There is no industry in the open stretch between Beaumont and Mont Belvieu to attract any significant growth in East Chambers and West Jefferson counties.

Nah, I don't see Houston metro pushing east of the Trinity River at all. Liberty / Dayton down 99 to Baytown will be the eastern suburban border for the foreseeable future. That area is going to have to fill in first. Not to mention Beaumont is a stagnant metro area and the newer suburban development is mostly happening between it and Port Arthur (though the nicer parts of Beaumont are on its west side towards Houston).

Houston/Austin would merge faster than Houston/Beaumont.

Between Baytown and Beaumont is pretty empty and there is nothing to drive growth.

I see Houston and college station and Brenham, but Beaumont not so much.

Houston is too spread out as it is.
I for one don't really care for anything past the beltway.

Lol. That's probably what Austin is saying about us (Houston)
