Any opinions on Bellaire West/Alief for young families?

I'm a right-winger and I'd prefer a nice, quiet, tidy gay couple living next to me to loud, messy, disruptive straights.

My condolences.
I have to admit thinking along similar lines. Houston is a great place to find a job, but quality of life in many ways isn't that hot.

seems like you are a car/truck guy, I would definitely take my time and look for a 3car garage home, having the space for hobbys and tools is always nice to have.

We recently visited to look at homes in The Woodlands, Spring, Cypress, Klein and many other sub-division in North Houston. We like the subdivisions in the Houston/Spring area between 249 and hwy 45 and are looking for the style/type of home that exists in these communities. We're also looking at Katy, Richmond and Sugarland.
Hi there! I just wanted to jump in and say that I lived in NW Houston (Champion Forest area, in between 249 & I-45) for 5 years and I really enjoyed it. I lived there during my late teens/early 20's (I'm in my late 30's now). I'm sure Houston has changed a lot since that time - I'd love to go back for a visit but my family doesn't live there anymore so there really hasn't been an opportunity to go back.

I'm married now and live in my hubby's hometown here in San Diego, which is great...I mean, who doesn't love San Diego? BUT there are some major cons to living in SoCal (as I'm sure you're aware). I keep telling my husband if we ever decide to leave SD, I think we should consider Houston. Obviously, its not perfect (neither is SD) but the things I liked there far outweighed the things I didn't like. I was pretty happy living there and I thought the people in Texas were very friendly and welcoming - and I LOVED all the sports teams (I will forever be an Astros/Rockets fan after living there).

The Katy/Sugarland area is ok but I preferred the Champion Forest area more. If I were to move back, I'd focus on that area or The Woodlands. I just love all the forest trees and how green it is. I used to shop at the Willowbrook Mall a lot because I worked as a waitress at the nearby Olive Garden (right off of 1960 & 249) to help pay for college...I wonder if that Olive Garden is still there?

Anyway, I think you'll have a great time there...Houston is pretty diverse so no worries...I think you'll be just fine!

Just wanted to say that I live in Olde Oaks with my partner (gay couple). We have been here since 2013 and love it. There are a few other gay couples peppered around the neighborhood. It's quiet and well kept. Lots of original owners that have retired as well and stayed here. You get so much house for your money. Hope you have found what you are looking for!

I'm conservative but when it comes to gay / straight I couldn't really care less. I have three sons and one is gay and I love and accept him no less so your welcome to move next door to me and we'll have a cookout unless your vegan....then stay in CA!

Hi all. I've been off line for a while since my last post. We arrived to Houston the week of Aug 6 and I have been enjoying every minute in Houston and being out of CA!

We purchased a home in the Greenwood Forest subdivision and actually close escrow 9/14. The home will be paid for in full, so this alone is a blessing! It's a beautiful Tudor style home with a pool. it's been well maintained over the years, in great condition and beautiful curb appeal.

It turns out the sellers are a male couple as well and selling due to job relocation to another state. The sellers were kind enough to invite us over to have a detailed overview of the home. To have a seller offer this type of accommodation is unheard of, at least to me.
