A car break down in freezing cold is entirely different from a break down in the heat.

It gets hot and extremely cold in Minneapolis. No thanks!

I’m amazed by people who complain all the time and take no action. There are several cities to live in the US and the world. Pick one and leave...quickly

1) get an inground swimming pool
2) get a pickup truck - the A/C in those works really well
3) make sure you have a good HVAC system installed in your primary residence
4) try not to go outside between May and September, inclusive

#5 - Plant trees in around your house and neighborhood
#6 - Stop baking cookies in your house when it is 100F outside
#7 - Get an office job like Dopo's .... I have to wear a sweater most of the day

Amen. Anything under 70 isn't fit for humans to live in.

To me it was never the heat on any one given day. It was the relentlessness of it all.

When the LOW temp for the day is like 78 - combined with humidity - it can mean A/C runs 24/7.

For months.

Months in which there is really NO pleasant time to go take a stroll.

None.

Decided to retire in Virginia and put up with a little winter in exchange for a lot less summer. Low tonight will be ~56. And we have had ZERO days this month where the low temp was over 70. For all but one day in August so far, the LOW in Houston has been between 76 and 80.

If you take a peek at the monthly records you will find that often Dallas had a higher HIGH but a lower LOW.

And that LOW you get is usually around 4 or 5.....AM! —Not 7 or 8pm for some evening relief from the heat.
