Got a parking citation in Montrose and contested the citation online. Just wanted to know the success rate of contesting a parking citation. I really hate Houston's parking crooks. Really making me avoid Montrose all together.

A traffic citation is not the same thing as a parking violation, which is what he received. I could be wrong, but I don’t really remember any consequences in Texas when you receive a PARKING violation, UNLESS you receive too many! A certain amount could result in a boot or towaway. I know for a fact that I had 1 or 2 in Corpus and another one in San Antonio- nothing happened. They did not appear on my driving record when stopped by popo nor did they result in encumbrance of my auto registration. I live in Montrose and the meter maids are hard on people here. I’m getting ready to contest one that I received on Thursday.

Got a parking citation 3 years ago downtown. It was 100.00 - Did the online deal to contest it. Ruling took like 10 minutes. Needless to say I lost, but they did cut it to 50 bucks. Just paid the 50 and was done -

I had two parking citations when we lived in Midtown. One for parking in a no parking zone, the other for parking too close to a stop sign. I got out of the first one, because they took down the no parking sign later in the day after I got the ticket. I paid the other one, because it is, in fact, illegal to park 5 feet from a stop sign. If you were actually parked illegally, I would just pay the fine. If it was marginal, it's worth contesting.

Do they let you know the answer by mail or do you have to go in person to contest it?

I did it online. It got reviewed I guess by a judge or someone authorized to make decisions. Got an email with the decision about 10-15 minutes later.
