Church. Volunteer. Depending on where you live you could join a walking group, running, biking, if you do that sort of thing. If you have a hobby then pursue it. Is it fishing? Go to various stores and talk up the sales clerk and see if there's a group that gets together. Many groups start online through shared interests and take off from there.

Nextdoor is a free online neighbor to neighbor group. Neighbors that are on it could suggest various activities in the area. Some HOA's have classes. Heck even Home Depot has classes or at least they used to. Join a gym. Take a yoga class. Learn car repair. Take a continuing education class in something you're interested in and talk up those in the class. You may need to make friends with your sex first and branch out to those that they know and meet some guys.

I used to think hanging out at the mall was what people did but things have evolved. !!

You should meet my son. Seriously. He is 20, and is a History major college student, very athletic and quite attractive. He is just frustrated with the "games" he has encountered lately.

College? I think HCC has a campus westside. I wouldn't hang out there late at night though.

If you're in school, what better place? Ask a guy to study and chill.

Well, I don't live in Houston anymore but if I did I'd invite you to hang out at my place On an equally serious note.... I always thought that the 24 hour Starbucks (I think it closes around 3am now) at 610 at Westheimer was a really neat place-lots of students, business people-a real international crowd. I met a couple chicks there that I dated for a while. Since I don't drink alcohol, Starbucks for me is a good alternative to bars.

Get involved in a political campaign. Depending upon your political affiliation, there should be one that needs volunteers. For example, the Beto campaign has tons of young people involved right now. There are lots of events and volunteer opportunities for young people between now and the November election. Join a gym. Join a church group like Seven Mile Road Church. My daughter who is 20 attends with a bunch of Rice students. https://www.sevenmileroadhouston.org
