Does anyone know of a reputable hypnotist (or even a doctor who uses hypnosis) that specializes in weight loss and smoking cessation? Or, even one who can help with a self improvement plan. I really need to put these nasty cigarettes down for good!

Cold turkey is the only way. Stay at home for 3-4 days, staying away from excess food. A little extra juice and water may help. Stay physically active during this time - helps divert your attention. Makes the drug withdrawal easier. Anything after that is purely mind over matter, because your body should be leveling off the blood sugar. That's what I did, because alternatives and "cutting back" the dosage never worked for me. If you still have blood sugar problems, maybe seeing an endocrinologist for diabetes or hypoglycemia testing would be more suitable.

WOW! I had no idea that smoking is associated with blood sugar! I had to read your post about 3 times and then Googled it. After learning more about it, I think I will check into a hotel, or retreat of some sort, or fat farm for a few days. Thank you for the valuable information! I did find a hypnotist and the appt is set.

Also, to Jimbo, thanks for the Quackwatch link.

UT M. D. Anderson Cancer Center has an entire program for tobacco cessation. I used to work in the department. Different studies going on all the time. Of course right now with the hiring freeze/layoffs, there may not be as much going on as before. Anyway, you should contact them to check if they can help you. You may even get it for free if you qualify for one of the research studies and become a participant.

Well, it's a year since my original post and I'm still puffing away. Thanks for the info; will give them a call.
