*Keep in mind when giving advice I am not asking for other city suggestions or advice on staying where I am. Thank uou*

I am almost 23 from Detroit, and quite frankly just over the entire scene here. I’ve attended several down south universities and I just like the south better in general. I am interested in moving to Houston, but just wanted to know a few things. Like as a single moving by herself what would be an area you’d suggest? I have a dog, but that’s it. I don’t have any roots, meaning no children and things like that so location isn’t really an issue. I think the ideal area would be somewhere near malls, food places, stores..not too expensive, club scene.

Where will you be working? The commute makes a difference in where you should live.

Heck yes. Traffic in Houston is horrible during rush hour. What could take 20-30 minutes any other time of the day could be 2+ hours, depending on where in the city you are at.

What kind of job do you plan to get? That should play a part in where you would want to live in the city, to make it easier to get back and forth to work.

That's the thing I'm not basing my move off of employment. I'm more concerned about the surrounding area.
